Dr. Ryan Oommen

Founder, Optimal Movement and Performance

Ryan is a licensed Physical Therapist, a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Ryan grew up in New Hyde Park, NY, and is currently living and working as a physical therapist, trainer, and coach in the area.

Ryan was first exposed to the rehabilitation field after injuring his neck during a high school football game. After extensive physical therapy not only did he recover, but also discovered his dream job. Ryan has mentored under dozens of different physical therapists since that time and has taken steps to learn as much as he could about rehabilitation and strength and conditioning. After graduating from the University at Buffalo in 2015, Ryan worked as a Personal Trainer at Equinox in Great Neck, NY while simultaneously working on his M.S. degree in Exercise Science and Rehabilitation at Brooklyn College. During PT school at Stony Brook University, Ryan got involved in other educational experiences which included receiving his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), and performing internships with both the Stony Brook Athletics Strength and Conditioning Staff coaching the men's Football, Basketball, Lacrosse, and Soccer teams as well as women's Softball, Lacrosse, and Basketball teams. Ryan also completed an internship with the Athletic Training department working specifically with the Men's Football team at Stony Brook. During this time Ryan created Optimal Movement and Performance with the intent to provide clients with safe and effective exercise as well as physical therapy services in the future.
